PETERSON'S POND
Peterson's Pond presents a perplexing problem-creatures are dying off in large numbers and no one can figure out why. No one, that is, except your students. Through laboratory experimentation, teams make microscopic observations and explore pond habitats, food webs, water pollution and ph levels, as well as conduct group problem-solving sessions to learn more about the pond's natural ecosystem. By using the scientific method and keeping track of their observations and daily clues in their science journals, students are able to explain the phenomenon. Based on one hour per day, the main portion can be completed in one week. Grades 4–8. Interact.
