Accompanied by brief, clearly written articles in large type, the maps and articles come in four sections: 12 geographic and thematic maps of the whole country, 60 pages of regional articles and maps, six world maps, and ten pages of history maps and graphs. Map locator systems mix use of latitude and longitude with alphanumeric grids. A 20-page how-to-use-an-atlas chapter, state tables, a glossary, and an index complete the list of features. (An optional 100-page teacher’s guide contains cross-curricular lessons covering every section of the atlas, reproducible student worksheets, reproducible outline maps, Internet tie-ins, and a CD-ROM with digital versions of all the guide’s contents.)
