"Resistance, to me, was living one more day," explains one survivor of Auschwitz. She and a handful of other survivors describe how difficult it was to find strength for defiance.
Although several acts of overt rebellion are recalled—especially the prisoners who died blowing up Crematorium #4—the emphasis is on more ordinary acts: those who shared food, those who helped the weak stand through roll call, and the woman who prayed quietly aloud in the barracks at night, risking her own execution so that others could listen and be comforted. Survivor interviews are presented along with modern and archival pictures of the camp. Narrated by Ellen Burstyn.
