Offers a unique angle on Japanese American internment.

This program interweaves a dramatization with archival film footage and photographs to tell the story of Ralph Lazo, a 17-year-old Mexican American student from Los Angeles who sneaked onto a train to Manzanar to stay there with and support his Japanese American friends. With much of the footage shot on location at Manzanar, the program provides insights into evacuation, life in the camps, Japanese Americans’ reactions to internment, what they faced when they came home after the war, and more. Bonus features: a "making of" video, filmmakers’ commentary, reminiscences from Lazo’s family and friends.
