Projects include making masks, pots, animal figures, and other items used in civilizations of the past, with materials such as clay and posterboard. Writing assignments help students to create a character profile of someone who lived at the time, such as a warrior or physician—"character development statements" offer prompts for describing appearance, clothing, skills, etc. Scripts of "setting development statements" help students write about locations.
