As Patriots, Loyalists, and Neutralists, students role-play delegates to the Stamp Act Congress and the Continental Congresses, where they bargain, debate, give speeches, and vote on vital issues—including whether to break with England.
In addition, they write research papers and complete optional stand-alone projects such as building models, preparing food, and giving talks on period architecture or artifacts. The teacher’s guide provides complete instructions, handout masters, tests, position papers, and rubrics. While the full simulation runs for 11–14 class periods, elements can easily be omitted for those tight on time.
