The activities consist of an introductory reading accompanied by a number of thoughtful questions and projects which, taken together, lead students to multiple perspectives on the units theme. A small sample of the issues: in Advertising, celebrities and ads, sex appeal, print ads and billboards, ads on the internet; in Movies, product placement, ratings, point of view, special effects, whats funny?; in Music and Media, degrading lyrics, downloading songs, shock radio; and in Television, newscasts, viewing habits, and "reality" shows.
