PERCEPTION
The Art of Seeing
DVD
Connect with a representative to create a custom curriculum for your district.
This participatory video demonstrates that our eyes don't so much "record" reality as create it, and that resulting misperceptions can lead to conflict.
In a series of ten experiments, viewers learn how frames (physical and mental) shape what we see and perceptual habits like filtering, closure, and categorizing objects by proximity influence judgment. Segments involve optical illusions where errors flow from preconceived ideas, drawings that elude vision, flawed conclusions based on changes in the world around us (the ant parable), and beliefs held despite proof to the contrary. The program can be stopped for discussion after each experiment. Includes a 16-page guide.
