POLLS
Connect with a representative to create a custom curriculum for your district.
Designed to teach students how public opinion is measured, this three-part simulation introduces the basic vocabulary of polling, shows how to design and construct an effective poll, and demonstrates how to analyze and interpret poll results.
Students work together in six-person teams to explore topics such as random sampling, bias, writing clearly worded poll questions, converting raw poll data to percentages, and different ways in which to present poll results. Teacher directions for each part of the simulation list objectives, materials needed, vocabulary words students will learn, and a step-by-step procedure. The simulation also includes setup instructions, assessment guidelines, a time chart, reproducible handouts and worksheets, and a posttest. Players: entire class. Time: 2 weeks.
