RENAISSANCE ART AND ARCHITECTURE

Topics: Classical influences, the dignity of the individual, Leonardo da Vinci and the "universal man," realism, The School of Athens, art during the Inquisition, ideals of beauty, turning points of the Renaissance, and contrasts with medieval art. Assessment questions involve asking students to discuss Renaissance art’s relationship to the classical style of ancient Rome, and what was important and unique about Renaissance art and architecture.
