RETURN TO LIFE
The Story of the Holocaust Survivors
CD-ROM for Windows
Skillfully mixing gripping first-person testimonies, archival photographs and film footage, and insightful narration, the program begins with a discussion of the psychological difficulties Holocaust survivors faced (post-liberation depression, coping with loss and loneliness, trying to reconceptualize the idea of “home,” and shame and guilt at having survived when so many others died). It then takes in-depth looks at Jewish life in DP camps, problems faced by those who immigrated to the U.S. or Israel, and the desire of many for revenge. Meanwhile, a database linked to the presentation contains maps, a timeline, and a glossary.
