In 2009, IBM's "Watson" computer took on two of the greatest Jeopardy champions of all time—and won.
Telling the story of how programmers worked through frustrating setbacks and eventually guided Watson to victory, this NOVA program offers insight into not only artificial intelligence, but also the human thought process, what occurs in the brain when we try to solve problems, the complexities of language, and what really defines "consciousness." At turns humorous (during practice sessions, some of Watson’s incorrect answers to questions are quite hilarious) and suspenseful, the program tells an entertaining and thought-provoking story.
