THE ATOMIC BOMB

Eighteen photo aids document the development of nuclear fission from the first self-sustained chain reaction at the University of Chicago in 1942 to the eventual atomic bomb. Included are pictures of scientists, their experiments, and the preparation for final tests in the New Mexico desert where the first fission device was successfully detonated.
