Students develop literacy skills as they role-play lords, knights, and peasants and examine how basic needs were met in medieval life.
Students analyze the power of government as they compare and contrast our current representative democracy with that of the feudal system. When their lord propositions the king to represent knights in government, in the unit’s critical incident, students strengthen civic discussion and critical-thinking skills as they prepare for a siege of their castle.
