Descendents of the feared warrior Genghis Khan wager their futures on separate warpaths, and the old proverb, “The enemy of the enemy is my friend,” has seldom been more true as Catholics and Muslims alike scramble for new alliances against the Mongols. After a brief commercial break (“The explosive rocket! Get your order in today”), the Pope sends a peace envoy, Brother Carpini, whose message from the Mongols is virtually ignored by Europeans.
