Topics: indulgences, Luther’s view on faith, the Counter-Reformation, Luther’s letter to the Pope, Calvin’s criticisms, German peasants and the Twelve Articles, spreading literacy to the Reformation, the Anabaptists, and the Edict of Nantes. Assessment questions involve asking students to discuss how the Reformation challenged the basic values of an entire civilization and accorded for the individual in the face of social, political, and religious authority.
