THINKING AS A HISTORIAN POSTER SET
7 posters, guide
Individual posters encourage students to (1) examine the source itself, (2) determine its particular historical context, (3) assess its reliability through corroboration with other sources, (4) evaluate it as evidence in order to (5) formulate an argument or explanation, and (6) connect information gleaned from the source to the larger historical context or to current events. The teacher’s guide lends advice on incorporating the posters into a curriculum and includes a sample exercise, student questions and suggested responses, and a bibliography.
