Designed to inculcate essential principles of economics as reflected in the work of leading professional economists today, these 20 content standards specify what students should learn about basic economics and the economy as they progress from kindergarten through high school.
For each standard, the guide outlines how students will be able to use the knowledge stressed in the standard, suggests exercises and projects, and presents benchmarks for what students should understand about that standard upon completing grades four, eight, and 12. The remainder of the guide discusses curriculum materials appropriate for each of the targeted grade level clusters (K–4, 5–8, 9–12).
