Step into a
Navigate Texas Classroom
You’ll see the teacher begin the lesson by engaging and connecting, using a strategy like Cueing the Brain to activate prior knowledge and spark curiosity. As the teacher introduces the lesson’s guiding question, students open their Student Resource Books ready to read, think, and respond.
As the teacher delivers new content, students engage in purposeful reading, analyze maps and images, and participate in discussions that build clarity and confidence. Vocabulary is reinforced, geographic tools are modeled, and student thinking is made visible as they annotate texts and work through activities. At the end of the lesson, students apply their learning through an authentic assessment, ensuring they synthesize and communicate new knowledge.
