Connect with a representative to create a custom curriculum for your district.
Designed to help teachers extend and enrich the standard U.S. government curriculum, these participatory lessons dramatize a wide array of issues.
In one lesson, after taking the timed Louisiana "Literacy Test" formerly given to African Americans registering to vote, students discuss the ambiguities that prevented anyone from ever passing the test. In a simulation of a constitutional convention, students propose new amendments and vote on them. In other lessons, students formulate a plan to prevent terrorism at the Olympics, decide whether specific actions are constitutional, and devise a personal political platform.
