Discusses how James Madison drafted this amendment to make it clear that individuals’ rights were not limited to those noted in the Constitution, and how in Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), the Supreme Court ruled that this amendment guaranteed the right to privacy. Also looks at how the Supreme Court used the Ninth Amendment to reverse states’ statutes restricting interracial marriage, and ruled in Roe v. Wade that states that criminalized abortion violated a woman’s right to privacy.
