Commemorate great Californians, people who changed the state-founded missions, started a Gold Rush, transferred California from Mexico to the U.S., built a railroad, rebuilt a broken city, or fought for freedom and justice.
Posters include portraits, greatest accomplishments, and signature quotes summing up the achievements of nine great Californians: Junipero Serra, John Sutter, Mariano Vallejo, John Fremont, Leland Stanford, Biddy Mason, “Captain Jack” (Kintpuash of the Modoc tribe), Amadeo Giannini, and Dolores Huerta. A tenth, generic poster invites students to nominate their own great Californian.
