Hana Brady was born May 16, 1931, in Czechoslovakia. She was sent to Auschwitz October 23, 1944, and gassed the next day. In 2000, Hana's suitcase went on display at Tokyo's Holocaust Education Center.

Children who saw it wanted to know who Hana was and what happened to her, so curator Fumiko Ishioka decided to look for answers. This poignant book recounts Hana’s story and Fumiko’s amazing discovery of a brother who survived Auschwitz and was living in Toronto. The tale ends when George Brady goes to Tokyo to meet the children who wrote poems and painted pictures to keep his sisters memory alive. Illustrated with 38 black-and-white photographs. Includes a CD of the documentary "Hana’s Suitcase" as broadcast on the CBC.
